Frequently asked Questions

Where do I fly in?

Boise or Lewiston. Boise is 150 miles from Riggins and Lewiston is 120 miles. Boise is a bigger airport so you can usually get better/cheaper flights into Boise. You will need to rent a car and drive up. Coming in from Boise you can take highway 95 or 55. It takes the same amount of time. 55 is more scenic but 95 is a better road.

I am flying. What do I do with my meat?

The best option we have found is for you to pack your clothes in coolers. (50 qt.) When your meat is processed you can take it home with you in the coolers and ship your clothes. We can usually have your meat cut, vacuum-sealed and frozen by the day of your departure. We charge .75/lb-hanging weight. Most bulls are between 300 and 500 pounds hanging. We can ship the meat for you but it is very expensive to ship (usually around $3-$4/lb).

I am Driving. What do I do with my meat?

You have the option of having the meat processed here or taking it home quartered. We can usually have your meat cut, vacuum-sealed and frozen by the day of your departure. We charge .75/lb-hanging weight. Most bulls are between 300 and 500 pounds hanging. If you choose to take your meat home quartered please bring tarps and/or game bags.

How many coolers will it take to get the meat home?

You will need 200qts plus of cooler space. For example: (4 or 5- 50qt. Coolers, 3 or 4 -70 qt. Coolers, 2- 120 qt. Coolers).

What if I don’t want the meat?

You have the option of donating it to the local food bank or we will try to find someone who wants the meat to pay the processing cost for you. However you cannot take just the good cuts and leave the rest without paying the processing cost.

I am flying. What do I do with the antlers?

You can leave them here and we can set you up with a good taxidermist or you have the option of taking them with you on the plane. We will wrap the skull plate and tape garden hose on the antler tips. It will count as 1 piece of luggage and you have to pay for an oversize item but it is much cheaper than shipping them. We will ship the antlers to you but the skull plate has to be split.

How much do I tip the guide?

A tip is not mandatory and any tip is appreciated. However we have excellent guides that will work very hard to put you on a great bull. Most hunters tip around $150-$200 on cow hunts $250-$300 on management hunts, and 4-5% of the cost of the hunt on trophy hunts.

What paperwork will I need to transport the meat and antlers?

You do not need an Idaho state license or tag. We will provide you with a state form that will work for taxidermy & transport of the meat and antlers.

What is your alcohol policy?

You can hunt or you can drink but you can’t hunt and drink. Once you have your first drink you are done hunting until the next day. No exceptions..

I am archery hunting. What do I need to know?

We have been very successful with our archery hunts. However the rut can be unpredictable. If the bulls are not responding to a call we will spot and stalk. Archers should have at least 60# draw weight and be proficient at 50 yards. We have some extremely thick cover, which can make a difficult but fun spot and stalk bow hunt. Think about bringing a rifle as a backup.

Are there any additional costs?

6% Idaho state sales tax
